Calik Denim, being one of the companies of Çalık Holding, was established in Malatya as an integrated yarn and weaving factory in 1987. With an annual production capacity of 40 million meters, Calik Denim is one of the most prominent companies in the world in its respective field.

Istanbul-based designer Gülçin Çengel holds an undergraduate degree in fashion design from the Izmir University of Economics. During her studies she concentrated on structural approaches to design by taking classes from the industrial design program. Gülçin also attended a fashion design certificate program at the School Of the Art Institute Of Chicago.
After graduation, Gülçin went to London for one term where she worked as the assistant to fashion designer Bora Aksu. After which she worked as a designer at Chakra in Istanbul, where she spent 1.5 years. Finally in 2013, Gülçin decided to create her own brand Gülçin Çengel. Gülçin participated the Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Istanbul (MBFWI) for the first time in March 2014. So far she presented her A/W 2014, S/S 2015 collections, and A/W 2015 collection as “Mercedes‐Benz Presented”, during the MBFWI.
